Information Centre for Drugs and Drug Addiction (National Focal Point)

The information centre manages the national drug information system and monitors measures taken to counteract drug addiction at a national level. In particular, the centre collects and disseminates drug and drug addiction data concerning:

  • problem drug users, who decided to seek treatment,
  • drug-related deaths,
  • number of problem drug users,
  • prevalence of drug use among young people and the general population,
  • prevalence of infectious diseases among drug users (HIV, HBV, HCV),
  • social attitudes towards the issue of drug addiction,
  • drug-related crime.

Moreover, the centre:

  • coordinates the actions of provincial experts for drugs and drug addiction,
  • carries and initiates research on drugs and drug addiction,
  • prepares an annual report for EMCDDA on the issue of drugs and drug addiction in Poland,
  • serves as a vantage point for the Information centre for Drugs and Drug Addiction,

An international cooperation working group was established within the framework of the centre whose competences include participation in the activities of international institutions and organisations dealing with anti-drug policies.
